    About:

James Eder is in his 7th year as an Arroyo Knight and his 11th year with the El Monte Union High School District.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, James joined the Marine Corps at age 17 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California—where he decided he never wanted to return to the snow. After his service, he returned to Illinois to complete his education, earning a B.A. in English with a minor in Education from Eastern Illinois University, fully funded through the Veteran’s Grant and GI Bill.

James taught English for seven years before becoming an administrator, a role he has now held for 10 years. At Arroyo High School, he oversees the Attendance Office, Guidance Office, Master Schedule, Campus Supervisors, and the Health Office. These responsibilities give him the opportunity to work with nearly every student on campus in some capacity.

James takes great pride in being a Knight and is committed to ensuring Arroyo High School remains a safe and welcoming environment for all students. He believes strongly in upholding the Knight’s code of chivalry—courage, loyalty, honor, and justice—along with virtues such as mercy, courtesy, generosity, and faith. He leads by example and makes himself available to students, staff, and families.

Even on the most challenging days, James is proud to be a Knight.
