SPANISH FOR NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS

  SPANISH 1 p  ⇒ ( No prerequisite ) 

  • Basic level of reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension
  • Beginning vocabulary and grammar
  • Introduction to geography, culture, and history of Latin America and Spain. 

SPANISH 2 p ⇒ Prerequisite Spl or Placement ) 

  • Intermediate level of reading, writing, speaking & listening comprehension
  • Intermediate vocabulary & grammar
  • Increased discussions in pairs/groups, projects, & presentations 

SPANISH 3 p  ⇒ ( Prerequisite Sp. 2 ) 

  • Advanced level of reading, writing, speaking & listening comprehension 
  • Advanced vocabulary and grammar; Daily paragraphs, projects, and literature

 

 

SPANISH FOR NATIVE SPEAKERS 

Placement by Spanish Challenge Exam or teacher recommendation 

SPANISH 1x ⇒ ( For students who speak and understand Spanish ) 

  • Introduction to reading and writing in Spanish 
  • Increase skills in spelling, vocabulary, and grammar

SPANISH 2x ⇒ ( For students with literacy skills & high fluency in Spanish )

  • Advanced reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities 
  • Introduction to literature and culture ( Pre-AP ) 

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT SPANISH 

Preparation for a college-level exam 

Prerequisite: Spanish 2x or 3p

SPANISH LANGUAGE AP: 

  • Focus on culture and writing essays
  • Practice AP exams 

SPANISH LITERATURE AP:

  • Focus on Spanish and Latin American Literature
  • Study of historical contexts and literary movements. 

 

MANDARIN CHINESE 

CHINESE 1P- 

  • Pronunciation ( Pinyin system ), writing Chinese words ( Stroke order ), & typing Chinese 
  • Vocabulary – daily conversation 

CHINESE 2P- 

  • Vocabulary, sentences, & short paragraphs ( Chinese syntax ) 

CHINESE 3P- 

  • Vocabulary, essay ( higher levels of sentence structures ) 

CHINESE AP- 

  • Preparation for the Chinese AP exam 
  • Chinese language, culture, geography, history, cuisine, traditions, legends, etc.
